Paul Lavin • President and CEO

Paul LavinSince joining American Health in 2008, Paul has implemented and led a company strategy to emphasize providing flexible, quality medical management at market-leading prices. His focus centers on meeting directly with clients and creating customized programs to meet their needs. Paul’s leadership has positioned American Health at the forefront of the industry with continued growth and superior client satisfaction. Prior to joining American Health, Paul was most recently Managing Director at BearingPoint/KPMG Consulting. He holds both a BS in Economics and an MBA from the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School of Business.

Ron Gibb • Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer

Ron GibbPrior to joining American Health in January 2010, Ron spent over 20 years with Wells Fargo in a variety of senior positions with assignments in New York, Minneapolis, Phoenix and Milwaukee. These positions included financial and strategic planning, operations, sales management and acquisition integration. Most recently he served as Senior Vice President and Manager of Business Banking and Commercial Real Estate. This role included developing credit and non-credit relationships with insurance brokers, medical practice groups, health care providers and self-insured private companies. As Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, Ron has responsibility for American Health's Operations and Business Support departments.

Roland Griggs, MD, MPH • Medical Director

Roland GriggsDr. Griggs has been American Health’s consulting Medical Director since 1993, bringing more than 23 years of medical management experience. In addition, he has operational experience for multiple provider-based businesses including a telemedicine supported, house-call practice and a rural integrated hospital system. Dr. Griggs has worked extensively with underserved populations such as the Navajo tribe, physically challenged children and homebound poor. Dr. Griggs is a licensed physician in 20 states. He received his BA from Dartmouth College and a Medical Degree and Master’s Degree in Hospital and Health Services Administration from The Ohio State University. Dr. Griggs is certified in Quality Assurance and Utilization Review by the American Board of Quality Assurance and Utilization Review Physicians and is American Board of Medical Specialties certified for Family Medicine.

 

Bill Wilkin • Chief Financial Officer

Bill WilkinPrior to joining the senior management team at American Health, Bill was Vice President, Treasurer and Chief Financial Officer with BellPointe, Inc., where he oversaw finance, accounting and distribution activities. Bill's experience also includes 10 years at J.E. Hanger Company, Inc., a leading provider of prosthetics and orthotics, where he served as Controller and Vice President of Finance and Administration. As Chief Financial Officer for American Health, Bill is responsible for all financial and fiscal aspects of company operations and provides leadership in the company's administrative, business planning, accounting and budget efforts.

Jim Williams • Chief Information Officer

Jim WilliamsJim has more than 25 years of experience in technology fields, consulting and technical management positions. He previously applied his expertise to the insurance, banking and eCommerce industries, working for nationally recognized companies such as Nationwide Insurance, Bank One (now JPMorgan Chase) and Sterling Commerce, a subsidiary of SBC Communications, Inc. Jim began his tenure at American Health as a consultant in 2002, and was instrumental in the development and implementation of American Health's proprietary iSuite software system. He joined American Health in 2003, as Director, Application Development. In his current role as Chief Information Officer, Jim provides leadership and strategic oversight to American Health's information technology needs, overseeing software development and client support services, and maintaining the technical infrastructure at the company's corporate headquarters and its numerous satellite offices across the country. Jim holds a Master’s of Science in Medical Informatics from Northwestern University.

Dennis Bryant • Vice President, Business Support

Dennis BryantDennis has more than 20 years of experience in customer service, technology, consulting and management. He previously applied his expertise to the insurance, manufacturing, global consulting and eCommerce industries, working with internationally recognized companies such as Abbott Laboratories, Philips Electronics and Atos-Origin. He joined American Health as a consultant in 2002 and was instrumental in the development and implementation of the company's industry-leading proprietary iSuite software system. Dennis accepted the position of Director, Application Development in 2005. As Vice President, Business Support, Dennis oversees American Health's business support, facility management, project management and implementation teams.

Carrie Jacobs • Vice President, Strategy and Marketing

Carrie JacobsPrior to joining American Health, Carrie was with Nationwide for 15 years, where she held roles focusing on strategy, program management, product development, mergers and acquisitions. She managed several large business transformation initiatives including post-acquisition integration. She holds a BA in economics and mathematics from Ohio Wesleyan University and an MBA from The Ohio State University Fisher College of Business concentrating on strategy and finance. As Vice President, Strategy and Marketing, Carrie has responsibility for American Health's strategy development and execution, product development, distribution strategy, marketing, RFPs and market research.

Lynda Davis • Vice President

Lynda DavisLynda brings an excellent understanding of health care to her role as Vice President at American Health. She has 25 years of experience, most recently as a Vice President of MED-VALU, a national medical management company whose assets were acquired by American Health in January 2011. Her responsibilities at MED-VALU included complex program administration, program development, regulatory compliance and administrative consultation. Lynda’s background includes working as a physician assistant in plastic and reconstructive trauma and in the group health division of an insurance company, where she holds several insurance industry program designations. She is well versed in the marketing of managed care programs and products for commercial and public sectors, and developed a successful international air medical evacuation service.

Donna Todd, RN • Senior Director, Clinical Operations

Donna ToddDonna has more than 25 years of health care experience in both the acute care arena and managed care. Prior to joining American Health, Donna worked at Mount Carmel St. Ann's Hospital in Columbus, Ohio, as Team Lead of Case Management/Social Work Services. While at American Health, Donna has served in a variety of positions, including Case Management Supervisor, Case Management Staff Development Coordinator and Interim Director, Disease and Wellness Management. In her current role as Senior Director, Clinical Operations, Donna is responsible for the leadership of case management and disease management and serves as the clinical expert within the senior management team. Her expertise is called upon to determine the strategic direction of our products as well as providing information to clients and potential clients.

Lisa Hopkins, RN • Senior Director, Clinical Operations

Lisa HopkinsLisa leads a number of business lines under the Utilization Management umbrella, including Utilization Management, Medical Review, Independent External Review and the Appeals team. Lisa’s thirty plus years as a clinician include various acute care settings with a heavy focus on post-surgical care, where she held roles as assistant nurse coordinator and head nurse. Her career also includes telephone triage for Kaiser Permanente and for a pediatric practice, where she worked directly with insurance companies. Lisa joined American Health in 2007 as part of the acquisition of PHCS where she was a clinical team lead. Since joining American health, she served as Utilization Management supervisor and most recently as the director.

Anne Klie • Director, Business Development

Anne KlieAnne has 25 years of experience in health care sales, marketing, implementation and product development. Before joining American Health, she was Director, Implementation for Nationwide Better Health where she was responsible for new business implementation for large, key clients. While at Nationwide, Anne served as Director, Product Development and as Director, Process Management where she had oversight of the team responsible for enrolling and servicing participants in Lifestyle and Disease Management programs. Anne held multiple roles at OhioHealth Group, including leading the company for one year as Interim Chief Executive Officer and previously as Vice President, Sales and Marketing. In addition, she managed UnitedHealthcare’s provider contracting efforts at its Columbus, Ohio, offices. As Director, Business Development, Anne works closely with Sales and Marketing to achieve business growth objectives through the development of proposals and presentations for new and existing groups, establishing and cultivating relationships with key distribution partners and championing the research and development of industry-leading products that support our current and future customers.

Alan Braybrooks • Senior Vice President, Business Intelligence

Alan BraybrooksAlan has been successfully planning and implementing business intelligence solutions for over 20 years. Prior to joining American Health, Alan held various consulting positions at KPMG, LLP, which became BearingPoint, Inc. and was later acquired by Deloitte & Touche. He managed several large projects where he developed and implemented business intelligence platforms, information strategies, self-service reporting and corporate-wide performance management solutions. As Senior Vice President, Business Intelligence, Alan provides leadership and strategic oversight to American Health’s business intelligence function, which includes health care informatics, client reporting, predictive modeling and data analytics.

Rob Dubois • Senior Director, Client Services

Rob DuboisRob has 19 years of experience in the health care industry, most recently as Director of Product Development for Lumenos, a leading consumer-directed health plan. His product efforts at Lumenos focused on engaging consumers more directly in their health care purchases. His diverse background includes direct clinical practice as a behavioral health/substance abuse therapist, call center management and implementation, and account management. Over the years, Rob has shown the ability to establish a level of trust with his clients by engaging them in a manner that proactively identifies their concerns and resolves issues in a timely manner. As Senior Director, Client Services, Rob leads the account executive team to ensure the voice of the customer is communicated throughout American Health’s operations.

Kari Ruthig • Director, Disease Management and Wellness

Kari RuthigKari has more than 19 years of experience in the health care industry, with a focus in health education and health promotion. Prior to joining American Health, she held a similar role at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan, where she designed wellness and care management solutions individually tailored to meet groups’ needs. Kari has extensive experience planning and implementing worksite health promotion programs and is a certified Wellness Coach. As Director of Disease Management and Wellness, Kari assists American Health’s clients in achieving their cost containment goals by creating healthy workplaces and healthy employees through the promotion of health, wellness and the prevention and treatment of chronic conditions.

Melissa Smith • Program Director, Strategy and Marketing

Melissa SmithPrior to joining American Health, Melissa was with Nationwide for 15 years, where she managed large complex programs such as the development and implementation of the Nationwide Internet Program, Communication Improvement Program and the integration and implementation of three acquired health care companies that later became Nationwide Better Health. As Program Director, Strategy and Marketing, Melissa works closely with IT and provides leadership and strategic oversight for American Health's implementation of new products and services and operational process improvements. Melissa holds a Project Management Professional, Six Sigma Black Belt and Scrum Master certification.
